About the regional summits
Following the Empower Kentucky Youth Leadership Conference in June, students will return to their schools in Fall 2019 and recruit a small group of their peers to attend a 1-day Regional Action Planning Summit. These students should be passionate about creating change in their schools and communities around the issues of power-based personal violence prevention, substance use prevention, and/or positive mental health promotion and suicide prevention.
This group of youth, along with an adult from their school or community, will attend the Regional Summit as a team and leave with an action plan for creating a prevention project in their school and/or community. These teams will then write and submit a grant proposal to Empower Kentucky for funding to implement their project.
Tentative Agenda for the Regional Summits:
10:00 AM—10:30 AM: Introductions and icebreakers
10:30 AM—11:00 AM: Presentations from youth and adults on the current climate in Kentucky around the issues (power-based personal violence, substance abuse, and suicide)
